I am currently a researcher at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), Analysis Division, as well as an Associated Researcher at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). I defended my Ph.D. in Human Geography in November 2016 at the University of Oslo. The title of my dissertation is “Local Dynamics of Civil War.”
My research focuses on the use of georeferenced data such as surveys and event data, to explore the local causes and consequences of armed conflict. Today, I am currently engaged in projects at FFI researching variations in violence against civilians in Syria, protection of the civilian population, as well as Norway’s involvement in international operations. At PRIO, I am currently engaged in a project on maternal health and armed conflict, as well as the Ministery of Foreign Affairs funded project Conflict Trends.
On this webpage I will publish GIS and conflict related news, as well as updates regarding my own work. This is a personal website. The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer.
